Here is PART 1 of our conversation with Andy Erwin. Andy is one-half of the award-winning filmmaking team known as the Erwin Brothers. In 2019, Andy, his brother Jon, and their two business partners created Kingdom Story Company, which is the Christian version of Pixar. Recently, Andy directed the film American Underdog, which moviegoers gave a very rare A+ CinemaScore.
As you will hear, Andy has some incredible stories to share and even has some ideas on what actress he would cast to play Steph in a movie! He also helps settle the debate between Kevin + Steph regarding “do actors cry on command”?
As a teenager, Andy began his career in sports television with ESPN as a camera operator before transitioning into directing music videos and documentaries with his brother, Jon. The Erwin Brothers won music video of the year three years consecutively at the GMA Dove Awards working with some of the top artists in Christian, Country, and Rock music.
In 2010, the Erwin Brothers began exclusively developing dramatic feature films. Their films have all opened in the top ten box office on opening weekend and they have received the coveted A+ Cinema Score THREE times! Their features include OCTOBER BABY, MOMS’ NIGHT OUT, WOODLAWN, I CAN ONLY IMAGINE (which became the #1 independent film of 2018), I STILL BELIEVE, THE JESUS MUSIC, and AMERICAN UNDERDOG.
