[0:00] Hello, friends. Welcome to another episode of Tell Us a Good Story. Today, we continue with part three of our conversation with our friends, Jeremy Hartman and Steph’s sister, Katie Keller-Schnitzer. Okay, you guys. In this episode, we talk about how my Apple Watch thinks I’m too loud and share stories about the wiffle ball party we recently threw at our house. And just so you know, Kevin didn’t go overboard at all. No, no, that doesn’t sound like me. But we’re also going to give you some huge news regarding what is coming up next with Tell Us a Good Story. That includes how we started recording TV episodes of the show, plus the guest we have coming up. Oh, you guys, it’s so exciting. As always, we can’t wait for to hear this very fun conversation with Jeremy Hartman and my sister, Katie Kelschnitzer. I’m Kevin. And I’m Stephanie. And during our marriage, we have dealt with an electrocution, a brain tumor, brain surgery. Then doctors telling us that children were not in our future, followed by miscarriage, and then Kevin’s cancer diagnosis. However, today we live a life completely healed and restored with three healthy children who doctors said were not possible. And we’re here to tell stories that inspire, give hope, and brighten your day. Welcome to Tell Us a Good Story.

But regardless, thank you for listening to tell us a good story.

[1:49] So with the scorekeeper, Jeremy, I do want to bring up one thing that happened. So Jeremy would be keeping the scoreboard. Okay. There was a game where there was not a parent from the other team keeping score. So it was just me and Jeremy. Well, typically there’s three chairs there. I sat in the middle. I always sat in the middle beside Jeremy. Well, I decided to continue just sitting in the middle beside Jeremy because I like to make Sarcastic comments throughout the game or say something to Jeremy.

[2:17] I don’t want anybody hearing it. Okay Appreciate those comments. No, not that I was saying anything inappropriate, but I would just private Yes, just I didn’t anybody hear it right so I could like whisper under my breath something funny to Jeremy Okay Well when the parents is filming this and then they would put it on the app. Right. And so there was a play that was made that Emmy did. And I wanted to go on the app and look at it. So got to the app. I’m looking at it. And the parent was filming from the other side of the gymnasium, which is facing Jeremy and I. Okay. So I look at it and it looks like I’m sitting on Jeremy’s lap.

[2:54] It’s an eight foot table. There’s nobody to my left. Jeremy is to to the far right and I’m like left of center because I’m whispering sarcastic comments to him and it looks like I’m literally sitting on his lap from the ankle of this man. Whispering some sweet nothings into my ear during the day.

[3:14] But there’s so many times where i’m like jeremy can i please pick the version of the star spangled banner right that you play here because it was how long is the star spangled banner you you press play and it’s like two and a half minutes i’m like can we speed this up please oh this one i don’t think mine’s that long is it i thought it was and you’re used to i did a whitney houston one time that was a mistake well you’ve got like jets flying Yeah.

[3:42] I could up my game on the anthem. I’d like to have a student sing when possible, but I didn’t have anybody this year that was comfortable doing it. Oh, yes, you did. Yes, you did. The championship game you did. Oh, yes, you did. We’re not going to mention names here. Yes, by the championship, I did get someone willing to do it, and they did a fabulous job. Okay. They did a fabulous job. The audio guy did not. No, it was too loud. It was ear-splitting loud. At least this is no longer the issue, But with the sound system we had, the controls, the slider bars for how loud things are, are upstairs. And we’re all downstairs. So if someone does go too loud, you got nothing. I mean, I literally could have ran from the table, ran up the stairs, and halfway through maybe slid her down.

[4:24] Or the second time. So, again, this is a very good idea. For the championship tournament, they had a real student sing the national anthem. It takes some guts to do that. Absolutely. And she was phenomenal. And she’s very good. And it’s a few hundred people. Yeah. It is jam-packed. So it takes some guts to do that. Yeah. However, Jeremy speaks into the microphone here in a normal voice. Yes. Hands it to this girl who could sing opera. Yeah. She has got some pipes on her. Yeah. And she starts singing directly into that microphone, and it is ear-splitting. Oh, my gosh. Can we please turn that down? Please. Of course, I’m at the scores table, and I look across. Jeremy, there’s so many fans with hands over their ears because of how loud this was. I don’t think anybody said anything to me about this because I didn’t realize. No. I knew it was loud, but I’m also, I work in a gym constantly. It’s always loud to me. So I did not realize that it was that level. You guys are looking at me like I’m on land. It was one of those things. It was so painful. We were laughing. Yes. Because it was so painful. And so I started laughing, not because it was funny, but because it hurt. We’re hurting.

[5:36] And so I started digging my nails into my thigh to make that hurt so that I would stop laughing.

[5:44] Let me ask you this. What would have been your – knowing the situation that the sliders are upstairs and I can’t do anything about it, what was your advice? You should have ran. Okay. Here would have been my advice. I should have ran. Okay. So that was the girls’ game. The boys’ game. Same thing. We’re going to do the search thing on banner. I thought the audio levels would have been adjusted. Adjusted. So Jeremy gets up. Introduces the girl hands to her i’m like oh this is gonna be better no no no it was louder.

[6:10] She was like you know what i’m gonna bring it even yeah i’m gonna bring even more energy this time now there’s 500 people instead of 400 i’m gonna even more and i’m like oh nobody adjusted it oh dear god it’s even maybe i should have like held the mic and just like pulled it away from her mouth a little i don’t know yes like brought it under her waist but her parents are recording there. I mean, this, this is a big deal, you know, and she was so good. So this one’s on me. We have a new system now where there’s literally like a little iPad that has sliders on it that I can have right there in front of me. So I would next year theoretically can correct that, but you guys won’t be there. Cause I mean, he’s not going to play, but that’s okay. But yeah. Oh, I’m, I am shocked. Nobody said anything to you, Hartman. I don’t think a single person did.

[6:54] So speaking of being loud we joke how steph and katie are quote naturally loud we have talked about that previously yeah it’s we love your energy right do not change because it makes you we absolutely love it however we were at emmy’s softball game a month ago and our nephew zeke came to the game and he’s sitting near my wife okay there’s a play made out in the field and of course steph is yelling like normal yes lauren yes and his wife his very soft-spoken wife lauren, is yelling as well okay so zeke looks at his apple watch and turns to me and shows it and i took a picture of it here’s what this apple watch said quote loud environment sound levels just hit 90 decibels around 30 minutes at this level can cause you temporary hearing loss.

[8:00] Outside mind you it’s not like inside and it’s reverberating and so he has like click it off and i bust out laughing i’m like see it’s not me apple thinks it too apple thinks you’re natural out as well. It’s not just me. And then what did you tell me, Steph, as soon as I told you that? My watch usually goes off three or four times a game.

[8:24] Every game, her watch goes off. I didn’t know this. Multiple times. She’s just like, clear. Escape. Dismiss. Dismiss. Quiet. Be quiet, Apple. We need to ask Mom. Yeah. Because I’m sure hers goes off. Yeah. All right, Steph, I’m going to test you again here. What is your favorite book of all time? Obviously, it’s the Bible, Kevin. Yes. Nailed it. Very good. This time you didn’t say the book we wrote called You Met Her Where. But it’s still a really good book. That is true. And it would make a great gift for friends or relatives on their birthday or for Christmas. Friends, you can order your copy of our book titled You Met Her Where at kevinandsteph.com. And we will make sure to personally sign a copy for you or whoever you want. And as always, thank you for listening to Tell Us a Good Story.

[9:14] Well, Jeremy, we were talking about softball a few minutes ago. You have a softball story, I believe. I do. Please share. Absolutely. I am playing. This is probably my fourth or fifth year. My church does a softball league about a half hour away or so, and it’s all church teams, and it’s all men. In theory, it’s very upright and positive. Should be. Hey, we pray before the game, we pray after the game. Anyway, low pressure. Until a Christian takes out another Christian at second base.

[9:43] It’s low pressure. It’s low stakes. And truly, we have had a fabulous experience. We were 4-0 to start the year. And then we had a really bad – we had a doubleheader one night. We had a really bad game the first game. We’re like, all right, let’s shake it off. But here comes the team that wins the league every year. We haven’t played them yet. They’re our second half of the doubleheader. And we are back and forth. We’re getting some runs. They’re getting some runs. And it’s like – I think we play seven innings. It’s the sixth inning. And we get a few hits, get a few hits. and one of our big guy comes up and he just jacks one over their heads all the way around the bases home run. And we are pumped. And next thing I know, their pitcher has his bat, like the guy that just said it, he has his bat to the ump and he says, hey, this bat’s illegal.

[10:24] This bat’s jacked, he can’t use this bat. And we’re like, what? And they had said nothing about, this is like his third or fourth bat of the game, it’s not like he’s first time up. They’d said nothing about this bat. So he holds it up to the ump, and the ump looks at it. He’s looking, and you have to have a stamp on the bat. There’s two different stamps that can be approved. It has to have one of those stamps. He looks, he looks, he goes, doesn’t have the stamp. He points at the guy, and he says, nope, you’re out. Those runners got to go back. And they’re like, thank you. And we’re like, what? And our guy’s like, no, no, no, no, no. This bat is legit. And I’m like, it doesn’t have a stamp on it. He goes, the stamp got rubbed off. It had the stamp. It was there? He said, I showed you. He looks at the ump. He goes, I showed you this bat last year. I sent you a picture of the bat because it had the stamp, and the stamp got rubbed off. And the ump says, well, show me the picture. So our guy goes to the dugout. He pulls out his phone. He’s swiping, swiping. And I’m over there thinking, come on, Kevin. Find that picture. Please, please. And man, daggone, he goes, here it is. And he goes and shows the ump the picture. And the ump goes, the bat’s good. What?

[11:23] And then they lose their minds. And now the pitcher and first baseman of the team are just like, Like, oh, you’ve got to be kidding me. The stamp’s not on the bat. The league, this rule said it has to be on the bat. It’s not on the bat. He got the picture. It counts. So he turns to his whole team. He goes, guys, use whatever bats you want. The league doesn’t matter. The league doesn’t care anymore. Use whatever you want to use. Oh, this game just went south. We’re like, are you serious? Like, chill out. And the guy that hits it, it’s not like he’s a little twig. This is a big dude that can hit the ball. Yeah, for sure. You would expect it. And it’s a slow-pitch softball. He can jack the ball. And they had some big guys that do the same thing. And so anyway, it just stopped. And then the rest of the season now, they really do. They are on top of those bats. They will very carefully inspect before the game what bats you have. Right. Unfortunately, we did end up losing in the end. I think I actually maybe made the last out of that. I did not. I did not hit well that night. Good thing these ladies weren’t watching that.

[12:19] We would have had to talk about that. There would have been a lot of disappointment. About how you could have improved.

[12:23] A lot of thinking in the car that night. but it was just the moment that he showed the picture and the ump said it was good I was just the joy inside of me because I just I thought their reaction was it was one thing they would have been like hey man is that bat actually allowed and we could have talked about it but it was the way it was just this oh no you’re beneath us you could have never hit that ball without a jacked bat that just made me mad and like oh gosh please have that picture for all things and when he did it was a great I’m honest it was my favorite softball moment I’ve ever had that moment was so fun.

[12:54] Jeremy Jeremy, I can tell you so many church softball stories from playing in tournaments and all that because church tournament softball, they have different rules than soccer. Asa softball tournaments right there they’re more lax right like unlimited home runs right so that brings all the meatheads in and so one of the things i used to do was me and my buddy would say hey we’d go up to guys hey who’s your pastor and they’d be like ah because they don’t go to church right they were just a ringer joel oh it was so funny hey who’s your guys’s pastor semester at a community church in Christ. Like, Oh, Oh my gosh. Like every time. Cause they don’t go to the church, right? They’re just the ringers for the weekend. And so I, I mean, so many times, Jeremy, my team benches empty, right. Where there’s a play at second base or whatever. And it’s just, it’s ridiculous because most of the guys who play in these church tournaments do not attend the church. Right. And it’s worse because it just, it just, it’s worse. So, Oh my gosh, I could tell you my end stories about that later on.

[14:02] Steph, what is one of the most asked questions we get about tell us a good story? Do I really get that excited? Besides that one. Oh, how do we get all these incredible guests? Correct. And some of our best conversations have been with guests who our listeners have reached out to us and said, you should talk to this person. To name just a few, Nick Vujicic, Coach Tom Ryan, Carol Moteca were all recommendations from our listeners. So if there’s someone you would like us to interview and think they might be a great fit for Tell Us a Good Story, please let us know at kevinandsteph.com. You don’t even have to personally know them. True, but do me a favor. Before you submit their names, please make sure they are still alive. That has actually happened, and it is super hard for me to find their contact information. But regardless, thank you for listening to Tell Us a Good Story.

[14:49] So Katie, we had a party at her house last weekend. Yep. And one of the things I love to do, I used to do this annually, right? Is invite friends and family over for Wiffle Ball, right? I’ve had Wiffle Ball tournaments at her house. I’ve had trophies to hand out. I’ve had all kinds of fun stuff. To hand out at our tournament okay so we’re now in our new house i measured everything out in our backyard it’s going to be tight yes all right but but it still worked out i got a fence up temporary fence up out there all of this did the hoa allow that well as long as it’s temporary fence and not permanent i’m good okay i’m good i will tell you i’m pretty sure our neighbors put the sprinklers on during the game you think they did that on purpose i swear they did they definitely came on But yeah, was it on purpose? Our sprinkler systems always go off in the morning, never at night. I swear they did it. Oh, yeah. Manual override.

[15:45] Show them. I’ll show them. Yep. Game over. I will say I was impressed with the field. I didn’t know what to expect. Yes. Please share your view of this as a gym teacher because your family was invited over and we had three teams of six. And can I say, I freaking love your wife, Amber. Amber came ready. she came dressed in a baseball jersey she had a high school softball jersey also center fielder from high school and so she was ready to go at one point she’s carrying I’m like are you carrying cleats she’s like no but that would have been good if they would still fit me I’m like Amber I love you but then she’s like you know those jerseys are so thick and knitted so then she had like a t-shirt or tank top on underneath it so she had to change but I’m like girl you are our people so amen this was the first time in five years Steph that we’ve had had wiffle ball at her house so i got the stuff out of the basement it’s gone through multiple moves now i was missing a couple wiffle ball bats you guys had yeah and then there was another one that i actually did lose but yes jeremy please share your thoughts on the setup and me sharing multiple pages of rules before you got there again the field setup was really nice i I would almost call myself a minimalist gym teacher.

[17:01] I don’t want to spend 20, 30, 40 minutes of my day setting up and tearing down equipment. So I don’t get a lot of big setup things like what you did here. So that was impressive to me that you put the time in. You even had foul lines. You had a line painted on the field for if you hit the ball too short, almost like a bunt, you’re automatically out. I liked that rule a lot. I thought I may adopt that for some games we do at school. The rules were a little over the top. He did sit out. I had a three-page text of rules sent to me PDF document the day it was a morning I go the morning of the event yep and I thought okay and so I read him because I you know a couple years ago I asked Kevin to look at my schedule for laser tag he did not and then I freaked out when he didn’t follow the schedule so I’m gonna read the rules he’s asked me to be one of the pitchers so I better know what’s going on so I did you know my biggest gripe oh here we go, I guess I didn’t love that you, if you threw the ball at someone going to first base and you missed, that player had to stop. And other players on their bases had to stop too. Yes. I can explain why though. Go ahead.

[18:07] He’s like, I will defend my rules. But go ahead with your statement. No, because there’s a method to the madness. Yes. That’s why. I didn’t love that rule. Yep. The other one was that you could throw it to the receiver. Rebounder. The rebounder. You could hit the rebounder with the ball if someone was running home. Yep. And they were automatically out. If it hit the rebounder before they hit home, it was like a catcher. And so my son, my youngest son, Ross, is on my team. He’s on third. I’m on second. Someone hits the ball. And I’m like, go, Ross, go. And so I’m running to third. He’s running home. And my oldest son on a different team throws it at him and misses. And I’m celebrating. We’ve just scored.

[18:38] And I think it was Adam was the pitcher at that time. And Adam’s like, he’s out. And I’m like, whoa, whoa, whoa, what? He missed. Like, clearly he missed.

[18:45] And my oldest son, Clark, looks at me and he goes, should have read the rules, dad.

[18:49] I hit the rebounder before he touched home. And I not only did I want to punch my child in the face, but my freaking awesome wife Amber was rolling on the floor laughing. That was by far and away her absolute favorite moment of the night was when he said, I read the rules, Dad. You should read the rules.

[19:09] So that was a tough moment for me. Here’s what happened. So I just made that rule up because here’s what happened in a previous time we played, Jeremy. We had a catcher. And there was an adult that took out a friend’s wife accidentally. Oh, yeah. That did happen. At home plate. Because a ball was coming in, and I warned people ahead of time, hey, there should not be a play at the plate. And a lot of times there’s people playing behind the plate who have not maybe played before. And so I had warned them, listen, you should not be standing on the plate. You should be catch it and just tag them or throw it at them. Right?

[19:42] But what happened was you get in the middle of the game, you forget that. And so you have people who may have not played, and somebody got taken out. Oh, and so to minimize that I looked up professional wiffle ball They have a plate behind of home plate where you throw it and if you hit the plate, they’re out, right? So that’s why I use the rebounder I’m like, okay that eliminates the catcher and nobody getting taken out at home play on a slide Because also people are used to sliding as well and it’s hard not to just run through and so I felt awful that this woman Almost got yeah hurt really hurt. So I’m like that’s a way to limit. Okay, let me somebody getting hurt So that was the reason for that. I’ll allow it.

[20:19] I still don’t like it. I mean, overall, we had a blast. I’m really glad we came. We had a lot of fun. My team, unfortunately, did suffer the loss in the last inning. It was really close. And it was because of one of my rules. Okay, so here’s one of my rules. If you hit three home runs during the game, you then have to bat opposite hand the rest of the game. Which I like that. So there were two people on Jeremy’s team who hit three home runs. And so the last inning they had to hit opposite and they got out i intentionally had saved up a home run yeah first of all one of our friends a guy named jay uh the first time up to bat he challenged me oh he did he he said oh i sure would be feeling a lot of pressure if i was an athletic director standing up at a wiffle ball plate and the first two pitches i fouled into the rebounder and i’m like maybe maybe i am feeling a little pressure thankfully i jacked a home run the next So that was all good. So I had a homer left and we had the bases loaded chance to really extend. I’m like, I saved a home run. And I mean, I swung that thing and I popped it up to the third baseman, not even halfway to the fence. And then our best fitter comes up who had to hit left-handed and he, I think he gets out. And so, yeah, that was a, that was a big problem for us. I really did not show my clutch factor there. Did any of your kids get you out?

[21:40] I think that Clark might’ve been the one that caught the pop-up because he was playing third. Okay. I think I got on every other time. I think I got on besides that. And my wife, by the way, batted 1,000. She never got out. Really? Oh, yeah. She got hit every single time. So, Katie, we were playing, and the person after Jeremy is hitting. Jeremy’s on first base. They hit it to me, a grounder, and I immediately, I’m trying to drill Mr. Hartman here. Yeah. Okay. So, Jeremy’s running from first to second, and I go to throw, and Jeremy just drops on the ground. I dropped and hoped he would throw it over my head, like miss me. And so, I froze as he dropped to the ground, and then I drilled him. Okay? Drilled him in the back. Well, then your wife immediately comes over and is like, you are now my favorite person right here is high-fiving me. That was her second favorite moment of the night. She loved that too. When you got drilled by Kevin.

[22:27] Although on a different play, Kevin was playing first. He gets a ground ball. He steps on the bag to get that runner out. And then my son, Dane, was running to second. Who is eight years old? He just turned 11. Oh, 11. He actually had just turned 11 that week. So Kevin steps on the bag. Like turns, even look, he just turns and whips that ball drills Dane in the back of the head.

[22:47] I was like, oh my gosh, I can’t have an event with this family without somebody getting drilled in the head, drilled his eleven year old son in the back of the head. I’m just like run over. I’m so sorry. You okay? Okay, you’re safe, you’re safe, and that is that is one of the rules and that’s one of the rules. So I that rule, I think, was approved.

[23:04] I agree with that rule, but but here was surprising Katie. We had kids play, including Tate, who’s six l who’s nine and how old’s ross my youngest is seven ross seven okay and nobody went easy on any kid no not one l had a lot of good hits and uncle paul is out there like diving catching these balls nobody went easy on any of the kids at all i mean it was hard for kids to get on base and get a hit like nobody yes i mean tate tate had some really nice he did tate did have a jacked bat as we would call it uh in the softball world he had a thicker bigger bat but i mean he is a small child but he had some really nice hits but he kept hitting him at l and she certainly wasn’t gonna back off no she was playing first okay so jeremy’s not kidding here i literally sent out three pages of rules ahead of time i got it on my phone so people know what’s going because again there’s some people who never played before yeah and there’s special rules for me for mason with a ball such as three home runs you gotta switch anywho here’s my bonus rule at the end of this PDF file that I sent everyone.

[24:09] The homeowner reserves the right to kick anyone out of the game or party for any reason at all, both deserved and undeserved, including their own children or other family members.

[24:22] Last page as well. What you win, the winning team is winners of the wiffle ball game. We’ll earn the opportunity to babysit Tate Mason for the remainder of the holiday weekend.

[24:34] You could just take him with you. As soon as the game is over, his bags will already be packed along with a small car seat i promise you this gift reward would be better than any trophy you could ever win kind of feels like a that’s so much a reward right a penalty it’s a reward i think everybody wins everyone wins here’s the other thing though steph you only get four pitches steph hit a ball that was fair the person was standing in foul foul territory all right and like kind of straddling the line but he it was fair i called her out step did not like that oh no so she started kind of getting on me and i’m like you know what she should as the homeowner yes as the homeowner i reserved the right i’m like you know what i’m gonna change this call it’s not worth it and so i was like you know what i think that is a foul ball you’re right honey that is a foul ball go ahead hit again and then what did you do the next one hit another foul ball on the fourth pitch and you’re out but jay luby came up to me after he’s like that was really smart like good work it’s not worth that man on your wife you can’t call her out there and then him by the second inning he printed off the rules he whipped it out of his pocket and was challenging me on a rule that wasn’t on there but it was like you know something common right like show me where that’s at on your pdf here he actually printed Turn it off, had it in his pocket, ready to go.

[25:58] You see, that’s one of the differences I noticed with how you did your night was so opposite of me. For me, it’s I’m going to invite three or four families. Once I see who shows up, I’m going to say, all right, you three or four go there. You guys go there. You guys go there. We’re going to play, and we’ll just play. If somebody questions a rule, we just argue about it, make a decision, and move on. So you were just very organized, and I’m very much just off the cuff. Let’s just pull it off the cuff. Let’s see what happens. It’ll be great. Oh, no. I love our friends. We were the best friends. People stayed. The Lubys brought ice cream, which was awesome. So we had ice cream. Hartman’s brought Gatorade, which, yes, that was a huge thing. Our kids were thrilled. I only took home two out of 28. I only brought two Gatorades home. Wow. That’s how much Gatorade people drank. It was a muggy night. It was. And then people stayed afterwards, and then that was July 5th, and so we had fireworks at 945. And so uh most people stayed and we watched fireworks from our front yard at 9 45 it was fun it was a great night.

[27:59] The first day we did it, we did three in a row. we recorded three conversations within four hours and that was a lot of prep on my end and then we go on vacation here a week from now when we get back we have four we’ve got two one one day and then two on another day so it’s gonna be pretty busy yeah but I’m getting very self-conscious when I’m watching it yeah yeah us on video it’s much different think about think about the basketball game how you felt when we were sitting that close to each other watching You’re gonna be watching yourself every single time. Oh, that’s stressful. That’s a whole new level of stress. Right, absolutely. But the guests we’re getting, fantastic. Like John Gordon, right? So John Gordon is a 16 time best-selling author, one of the top three leadership speakers in the world. Yeah. And then he complimented us during our conversation at the end. He did, but it was for you. Let’s be honest. And you deserve it, you deserve it, you deserve it. You do so much work.

[28:55] You’re so sweet that he complimented us he did it was i mean behind every man has a good woman right that’s right he commented both of you thanks hartman you’re welcome but when he was complimenting the first sentence he said the compliment i totally blacked out y’all like i froze on what he said and then i didn’t hear anything else yeah because i was regurgitating in my mind like did he just say that did he just say that and then whatever the second third sentence was after that I totally miss until I replayed it afterwards when I was editing it like totally blew me away so it was going to your head no it surprised me so much like it shocked me like did he actually say that did he actually just compliment me like that and so I totally like froze and then you became cheerleader which was really nice very nice of you so the people coming up that we’ve already talked to or we’ve got them scheduled we’ve got Renee Marino who is an actress and professional speaker. So she’s speaking with Anthony Robbins and Dean Graziano. And she was on Jersey Boys. And she’s been a Broadway actress for like 20 years. And so we talked to her in a couple weeks. We talked to Victor Marks again. Victor Marks! I love that man. And so I know we’re going to talk about, I guarantee it, we’re going to talk about some stories about us going out to Colorado Springs last year to visit. And his dogs going nuts on me. And all that stuff. So I guarantee there’s gonna be some really fun stories there.

[30:24] Then we’ve got coach Dan Hinote, okay? We got him on the schedule. He’s the one who said, hey, I actually listen to you guys now. Okay, so he is the hockey coach for the Nashville Predators. Okay, so his season ended. And this is going to be a fun fact. He married Jenny McCarthy’s sister. What?

[30:43] So his brother-in-law, when he got married, was Jim Carrey. Because Jim Carrey was married to Jenny McCarthy. So they were brother-in-laws. And so there’s got to be a story. I know there actually is a story about Jim Carrey going to their wedding. Oh, my goodness. He’s also… That’s nuts. He won a Stanley Cup with the Colorado Avalanche. So another one. we’ve already talked to and this was this is probably one of my favorite conversations we’ve had in a while his name is alex kendrick he’s with the kendrick brothers they have produced a lot of faith-based movies facing the giant war room fireproof fireproof and so he’s the guy that’s actually in there and he’s written those and directed them and so we had such a fun conversation with him he was amazing and at the end said i’d love to meet you in person sometime i want to shake your hand and then stuff’s like well i don’t shake hands but i will give you a hug.

[31:39] I’m like i don’t know what you just signed up for sir but yes you would get a hug from my wife and from me he’s like that’s fine i’m a hugger i’m a hugger he was so nice he was very nice but that was fantastic but here’s the thing we’re now to a point where it is scary because this is going far beyond what Steph and I can do on our own by ourselves. So it’s now to the point where we need help. We need partners to partner with us in regards to help support some of this. Right. And so we’ll be putting on our website a link for donations and partnering and we’re working on getting it tax deductible and all that. But it’s literally to that point where we can’t fund this anymore because of what it takes with producing TV and all that. So the other thing is like, okay, if someone partners with us on a monthly basis, what do they get? So here’s my list. They get to take Tate home. A weekend with Tate. A weekend with Tate. That’s what I thought too. It’s a win-win, baby. We should have done this years ago. What were we thinking? We were on the same wavelength. And a car seat. So that’s good. I need to add that to the list. A car ride with Steph telling you all of your shortcomings in life. Steph and Katie attending your child’s sporting events. Katie will shake loose any dirt you might have on your walls and fences. I have number one, an invite to a Mason wiffle ball game.

[33:09] Coveted. That’s a coveted spot. Another monthly partnership for Tell Us a Good Story. I have a monthly Zoom call with Steph and Katie.

[33:19] Not after 9 p.m., please. Not after 9. No. We prefer early. That’s true. We get tired. Yes, we do. That is very true. But no, in serious, I actually have three things written down. And who knows where this goes. But one, it’d be access to all the TV episodes that we’re doing.

[33:34] It’s really cool with the way it’s turning out and the way it’s being produced. So that’s really cool. Second would be our book, an autographed book that we would send. And then third would be a private Facebook group related to Tell Us a Good Story where where we will give people a heads up on, hey, here’s the guest that we’re having on. Do you have questions? Yes. And allow people to give us questions on what should we ask them and give us feedback on, okay, what stories would you like us to share on a fifth episode? But give them the ability to have a direct communication with us, right? And especially help us with, hey, what should we ask this guest coming up? You may know something that may not pop up when I’m researching a guest. So that private Facebook group would allow that to happen. That’s awesome. And I’m sure there’ll be more. But if listeners go now, they’re going to see a support link on our website. Because again, it’s to that point where like, this is beyond us. Yeah. That’s freaking crazy. Anywho, Steph, what are you thinking? It’s scary. Yeah. It’s very scary. This is hard. We’re stepping out deeper. And faith. We’re stepping out deeper now. Stepping out faith. Just like God, tell us what you want. Yep. So we do, and we just keep saying yes. As our pastor says, just say yes. God’s going to fund the assignment here. And so we don’t have any sponsors right now, so we’re going to need some support. Once we get some huge corporate sponsor like Chick-fil-A or something, that would be awesome.

[34:55] God’s chicken. God’s chicken. That would be awesome. Start putting Chick-fil-A ads on the episodes. Yes, there you go. How awesome would that be? Steph, what’s your favorite chicken? Canes? Oh, shoot. I thought you were going to say Chick-fil-A. I thought you were going to say Chick-fil-A. Oh, man. Sorry, God.

[35:13] God’s chicken, man. We practiced this we went over this stuff you know it was chick-fil-a oh man hey an old job i had a corporate job we were working late the secretary ordered raisin canes she went got it before she left because we were working late got here she forgot the cane sauce oh no oh my gosh jeremy she got killed yes The reaction she got, everyone was like, we can’t even eat it. We can’t eat it. Throw it away. You got to go back. You got to go back. You have to go back and get us cane sauce. I’m like, guys, are you being serious? Yes. This is, it’s not edible unless you have that cane. So the secretary went back to Raising Cane and got multiple cane sauce and brought it back. Nobody would eat it without that Raising Cane sauce. I’m like, how bad are we? How awful are we? Like, no, you forgot the sauce. No, because you’re working late and you’re already mad about it. And now you had insult to injury. You have delicious chicken and no sauce. So bad. So anyhow, Steph, anything else you want to share during this conversation? No, I am just so happy that we got two episodes. I don’t have to stress while we’re on vacation. I’m so thankful. So thanks, guys. You’re welcome. Thank you both. Appreciate you. Thank you.
