“Big” James Henderson is a powerlifting champion. Henderson won his first powerlifting championship in 1994. He competed in the International Powerlifting Federation, was a five time Super Heavyweight World Bench Press Champion securing himself five consecutive wins between 1994 and 1998 and set a world record when he bench pressed 711 pounds RAW in 1997.
Benching raw means Henderson accomplished lifting 711 pounds with no “fancy” shirt and no drugs to help him, something he’s incredibly proud to say, just hard work, practice and an insatiable hunger for winning.ย
As you will hear in this weeks episode, Henderson is a big man with a BIG heart and personality to match his size and strength. Listen in as he shares some hilarious stories about the time he met his hero, Chuck Norris, why he chose to play football at Albany State instead of Florida State and, of course, about his record setting 711 pound lift.
Hope you enjoy this episode of Tell Us a Good Story and we’ll see you next time!ย
