Here is PART #1 of our conversation with former NFL player and coach, Mike Furrey. This man has lived a life overcoming obstacle after obstacle to fulfill his dreams. After finishing runner-up in Ohio’s Mr. Football award, Mike received zero scholarship offers to play in college. So he decided to become a walk-on wide receiver at The Ohio State University before becoming a three-time All-American at Northern Iowa and then playing EIGHT years in the NFL with the St. Louis Rams, Detroit Lions, Cleveland Browns, and the team formerly known as the Washington Redskins. Today, Mike is the head football coach at Division II Limestone University in South Carolina after coaching four seasons in the NFL with the Chicago Bears.
WARNING: this man’s stories will give you goosebumps! What advice does Mike give kids and parents about overcoming adversity? What happened when Mike wanted to quit football after one week at Northern Iowa? How did his wife, Koren, help him go from playing in the Arena Football League to making it in the NFL?
